Several people have asked me if I still have a homeschool blog. I don't anymore, I just dropped it one day .
I am trying to decide if I should start another as I am not feeling the fashion lately.
I'll try for a while and see how it goes....
Today we had to wake up early as the girl had an ortho. appointment. Good news is she might gets her braces off months ahead of schedule. After that we hit up Aldi and got a tank of gas for phase 2 of the day.
The oldest got up at 6:30 and cranked out his major school work by 9ish. He works on designing video games the rest of his free time or reading.
As the girl is still on concussion lockdown, she is not doing anything taxing like reading or math. She is scrapbooking and doing a few easy classes like acting and piano, but that is it. She goes back for her next impact test next week or something so that will determine when she is off the "don't do anything" schedule. It has been brutal as she is reading right now and I have to stop her. Once her headache goes away(21 straight days) she will be able to do more. Have I mentioned concussions suck?
Phase 2 of the day gave me 45 minutes at home before oldest and I left for a fieldtrip at the gunsmith school. I had not idea such a place even exsisted, but for my gun loving son and his friends it was a "YES" before they even heard anything else. Funny because the moms are the Buddhist, yoga types in our group. Anyway, we get to the place and its pouring rain. WE go in, get a little talk, take a tour and get a Q&A session where basically me and another mom asked the questions while the boys just sat there. The school is over 20K for 16months. Son said it was cool, but decided he was not interested in that for a career. I did point out it wasn't a high paying career anyway, so I am pleased he decided it might be cool for fun, but not his first choice.
By the time we got home it was dinner making time(for me) and the boys played video games while the girl did whatever .(I think play with the cats?)
I hit the store and got the girl more scrap book supplies and she just now was illegally writing again so now she has another headache. Sigh, never ending with the "stop reading, stop writing!". Its hard when that is what you love to do and you really cannot do anything thinking for long.
Tomorrow is the easiest day of the week with just fencing in the evening. My baby turned 10 yesterday, so we had a lunch out with his best friend and dinner out with us while also squeezing in swimming and acting lessons in between all the fun.
The kids will catch up on some stuff the have not had time for.
I found out the swimming class is actually 2 mornings a week at a place 50 minutes from me. This means we have to leave early , do the swimming lesson, then go straight to playgroup, then fencing on tuesdays. Weds. are the same but replace with acting in the evening.(and hockey when girl is cleared). None of these places are by me or each other. I just try to remember my little one needed the swimming and with his best friend and a time we can work with means I'll suck it up for 8 weeks. Its gonna be a long 8 weeks...
